A Good News Story – Giving Back to Your Community

Last month a local YouTuber reached out to the Whalers about a possible donation. Justin was born and raised in Dartmouth and is a creator for YouTube.  EckhartsLadder, his Youtube channel, has gained popularity for creating science fiction-related videos, primarily about the Star Wars franchise. Justin has another YouTube channel, @EckHockey, which provides full coverage of the best hockey plays from across the world, with a focus on the NHL.

When his children began to play hockey with the Whalers, Justin quickly discovered the tremendous cost and commitment required in minor hockey. Justin decided to use his YouTube platform to raise money for the Whalers and give a donation. AND DID HE EVER GIVE!! Justin, through EckhartsLadder, donated $6,000 to the Whalers!!!!

The Board quickly met to decide what to do with the funds, and supporting the development of our players by investing in our coaches was top of mind. Coaches volunteer so much time and demonstrate incredible commitment to the Whalers. Typically, coaches personally fund their team’s coaching equipment, but this season, we are giving each team their own Coaches Kits! Whalers are using the funds donated to purchase a coach’s kit for each team this season. The kits will include 50 pucks, puck bag and a 16 x 24 coach’s board.

The kits have been ordered and we expect them to be in within the coming weeks and will arrange for kit pick ups.

Justin has even offered to do more fundraising for the Whalers! To show your appreciation for Justin’s tremendous generosity, please click that subscribe button on his YouTube Channels!
